Copy Quick Tip | Forget All the Rules

copy quick tips

Let's play a game of "this or that."

Which sounds more exciting?

  • Yes! You're in.
  • Yessss!!! You're in.

Which sounds more emphatic?

  • It's just not true.
  • It's just NOT. TRUE.

Which sounds more persuasive?

  • It's because it's not worth the stress.
  • Because it's not worth the stress.

Which sounds more punchy?

  • I have a really quick question. Would you like to receive my emails?
  • Real quick—wanna get my emails?

If you were to put on your grammar-girl hat, you'd cringe at every single one of the second options above. They break rules for spelling, sentence structure, punctuation, and more.

But here's the thing:

They sound the way we talk.

I'm not suggesting you intentionally break grammar rules in a professional letter or job application, but when it comes to copywriting?

Go for it.

✏️ Copy Quick Tip ✏️

 Forget all the rules.

Most people will read your marketing copy in casual places like their inboxes or social media. Even your landing pages can be conversational to strike a more personal connection.

It's a-okay (and will get you better results) if you break a few rules.
