Why the Latest ChatGPT Memory Upgrade Changes Everything for Copywriting

If you were hiring a copywriter for your holistic health practice, you wouldn’t just hand them a few notes and hope for the best.

You’d want them to get you.

To understand your voice.

To pick up on how you talk about your work and the deeper mission behind what you do.

Over time, you’d want them to write content that sounds just like you, without needing constant edits, explanations, or rework.

So when it comes to leveraging ChatGPT as your brand copywriter?

Same rules apply.

It needs to remember your preferences.

It needs to learn from your past conversations.

It needs to build a mental map of your business.

Thanks to the latest ChatGPT memory upgrade, that’s now fully possible—as long as you use the right setup.

In this post, I’ll walk you through:

  • The latest ChatGPT memory upgrade
  • Why Projects are the best setup if you want ChatGPT to become your go-to writing assistant
  • How to manage and optimize ChatGPT memory
  • How to integrate all of this into a complete copywriting system

This will change your relationship with AI and finally make ChatGPT feel like a trusted team member.

The Latest ChatGPT Memory Upgrade

In April 2025, ChatGPT quietly rolled out a memory update that changed everything.

Until then, memory was primarily saved within individual chats. Outside of that, it worked more like sticky notes. You could ask ChatGPT to remember certain facts, but unless you explicitly told it to remember, it would forget.

Now?

ChatGPT’s memory system is smarter and more intuitive than ever.

It remembers in two ways:

  • Saved Memories: These are details you ask it to remember (e.g., “Please remember that I specialize in hormone health for women 40+”).
  • Chat History: ChatGPT now pulls context from your past conversations to make responses more relevant and aligned.

So when you mention your hormone program in a blog draft, or that you prefer short subject lines in your emails?

ChatGPT remembers. And starts weaving that into future content.

Think of it as building a brain for your brand. One chat at a time.

This shift transforms ChatGPT from a prompt machine into a true collaborator that gets smarter the more you work together.

And when you know how to manage memory well (more on that soon), it’s the key to turning ChatGPT into a brand copywriter that sounds like you on your best day.

Why Projects Are the Best Setup If You Want ChatGPT to Be Your Brand Copywriter

If you want ChatGPT to actually remember your business, your voice, and your offers the way a real writing assistant would, Projects are the way to go.

Here’s the full breakdown:

1. Projects Use ChatGPT’s Full Memory Capabilities

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I used to recommend setting up a CustomGPT to serve as your brand copywriter. That approach still works well when you need a shareable tool for your team.

But…

and this is a big BUT…

CustomGPTs do not use memory.

  • They don’t remember what you told them yesterday
  • They can’t learn from previous chats
  • They don’t build a long-term relationship with you

The only way to “teach” a CustomGPT is by uploading more docs or editing its instructions. That’s fine for a static tool but not ideal for dynamic, evolving content creation.

If you want ChatGPT to remember you and grow with you, Projects are the setup that makes it happen.

2. You Can Upload Files Inside Projects

Want ChatGPT to actually know your brand inside and out? Upload your full brand messaging and voice doc (I call it your BrandVibe Kit) plus any sales pages, website copy, or previous content examples. Once added, you won’t need to repeat yourself or re-upload the same materials.

3. You Can Stay Organized

If your ChatGPT account feels like a hot mess of random, unrelated chats, Projects will be your new best friend.

Use one Project for emails, another for blog posts, a third for launch planning. You’ll feel so clean, focused, and organized.

4. Projects Share Account-Wide Memory

Even though each Project has its own chat threads, ChatGPT connects the dots across all of them.

So if you talk about your program in one and your social media voice in another? It all weaves together.

This is how you build a long-term working relationship with ChatGPT.

How to Manage and Optimize ChatGPT Memory

The upgraded memory is powerful, but only if you know how to manage it.

Here’s how to get the most out of it:

1. Know Where to Find Your Memory Settings

Click your profile icon in the upper-right corner of ChatGPT, then go to:

Settings → Personalization → Memory

From there, you can:

  • Toggle memory on or off
  • View what ChatGPT remembers about you
  • Edit or delete any saved details

2. Tell ChatGPT What to Remember

ChatGPT can learn from patterns, but it still helps to be direct.

If there’s something you want it to lock in (like your program name or tone of voice) just say:

“Please remember my signature offer is called Thyroid Mastery. It’s a 6-month group program that teaches what everyone needs to know to optimize their thyroid health.”

It’ll confirm and store that info for future chats.

3. Use Temporary Chats for One-Off Tasks

Need to brainstorm a birthday card?

Plan a trip?

Draft a grocery list?

Use a Temporary Chat.

It’s like scratch paper you immediately throw in the trash. No lasting memory, no impact on your brand setup.

You’ll see the option at the top of your chat window.

4. Use CustomGPTs for Unrelated but Routine Work

Since Projects feed into your account-wide memory, keep them related to your business and messaging. If you routinely use ChatGPT for other work, that’s where a Custom GPT might come in handy. This will keep things clean and compartmentalized.

How to Integrate All of This into a Complete Copywriting System

The latest memory upgrade is amazing, but you still need a system to make it work for you.

That’s what I teach inside HighVibe Copy. It’s a complete copywriting ecosystem that brings together:

  • Messaging that comes from within you
  • Copywriting strategies that have stood the test of time
  • AI tools that make everything feel actually doable

Because the best copy doesn’t come from knowing every ChatGPT hack.

It comes from the message that’s already bubbling up inside you.
