Questions About ChatGPT You Didn’t Know You Should Be Asking in September 2025

It’s been a busy summer for ChatGPT, with new updates rolling out left and right.

While you were caring for your clients or taking a much-needed vacation, your ChatGPT account was quietly changing, feature by feature.

Now that we’re settling into September, I thought I’d share some of the questions you probably should be asking about ChatGPT… but didn’t even know to ask.

If you’re a health & wellness practitioner using AI to support your copywriting and content creation, here are the updates you need to know.

Does ChatGPT text have hidden watermarks?

I recently came across a few social media posts sounding the alarm that the text copied from ChatGPT contains hidden watermarks.

So I looked into it.

These so-called “watermarks” are invisible characters that nobody can see unless it's pasted into a special decoder (my word, not theirs).

The watermarks look something like this:

[Zero Width Joiner U+200D].

I tested a pile of content straight from ChatGPT: social posts, emails, and even a full blog post. I found one watermark, but it turned out to be connected to a yoga emoji 🧘‍♀️ and had nothing to do with ChatGPT.

So I've decided that at this moment in time, the answer to this question is NO.

ChatGPT is not secretly watermarking your text.

If you want to test it for yourself, here’s the tool I used →

Does ChatGPT have different personalities?

You can now choose from 5 different personality types!

  • Default (cheerful and adaptive).
  • Cynic (critical and sarcastic)
  • Robot (efficient and blunt)
  • Listener (thoughtful and supportive)
  • Nerd (exploratory and enthusiastic)

You can find these under the "Customize ChatGPT" Settings.

What is Thinking mode?

Thinking mode is a GPT-5 setting that lets the model take extra time to reason before it replies. In GPT-5 you can choose:

  • Auto (ChatGPT switches between modes for you)
  • Instant (fast answers)
  • Thinking (slower, deeper reasoning)

To switch between modes, use the model picker at the top of ChatGPT and choose GPT-5 → your preferred mode.

And if you’re using the default auto mode, you can nudge better reasoning by saying something like “think carefully” or “take your time.”

What is Project-Only Memory?

This one’s my favorite!

Project-Only Memory means that everything you do inside a Project stays inside that Project. Your conversations there don’t connect with or feed into your overall account memory.

Most of the time I recommend using the default Project memory, because that’s how you build an interconnected web of memories like a second brain for your business inside ChatGPT.

But Project-Only Memory is perfect for when you’re working on things unrelated to your business. You can stay organized in Projects without mucking up your account memory with things like planning a family road trip.

Do FREE accounts have Projects?

Yes!

This is new.

Projects are now available for Free tier users, with up to 5 file uploads per project. Paid plans support up to 25-40 files per project, depending on your plan.

All plans include new customization options, like colors to help keep your Projects organized.

Are my ChatGPT conversations private?

By default, ChatGPT uses your conversations to train its AI models. That means nothing is private. If you’re a health practitioner, this is especially important: do not put sensitive information or client details into ChatGPT ever. If you are using it for chart notes, be sure to never include clients' identifying information.

That being said, you do have some control.

If you go to Settings → Data Controls, you’ll see the option to toggle off the default setting that allows ChatGPT to use your conversations for training.

What are Voice Chats?

Voice chats let you talk with ChatGPT instead of just typing. You ask your question out loud, and ChatGPT answers back in real time with a spoken response.

And as of last month, Advanced Voice Mode is available to everyone. Free users can now use it for hours (not just a few minutes), and Plus subscribers have near-unlimited access.

Who can help me keep track of it all?

That’s the final question lol.

And the answer is me.

ChatGPT changes are a lot to keep up with.

I’m here to support holistic health & wellness practitioners in leveraging AI for their copywriting and content creation…without it consuming your life!

I keep my trainings and programs updated so you don’t have to track every new tweak or feature.
