How to Use Quizzes to Reach New Patients

Do you remember how much fun it was to take those personality quizzes in Teen Magazine? Well, it turns out that making a quiz is just as much fun as taking one! I have made an online quiz for my website, and I am jazzed to share with you how to do it for your own website.

Online quizzes are the latest rage. Quizzes are one of the best ways to get potential patients to engage with your practice—before ever stepping foot through your door. Quizzes show your potential patients how your services relate directly to them. Quizzes are a sleuth way to educate people about their health and your approach to medicine. They give you an opportunity to interact with potential patients and invite them to take the next step.

Quizzes are one of the best “call-to-actions” you can add to your blog or your website.

Since I have just finished making a quiz of my own, I am going to walk you through the process here.

How to Create a Quiz

Follow these 8 steps to create an interactive quiz for your website.

Step 1: Sign Up for Quiz-Building Software

I opted for the Interact Quiz Builder, but Lead Quizzes is another popular quiz maker. Both of these options are easy to use and will accomplish the same goal.

Step 2. Choose a Quiz Type

The Interact Quiz Builder offers 3 types of quizzes: assessment, scored, and personality. The assessment quiz has only right-and-wrong answers and tests a person’s knowledge of a subject (How much do you know about leaky gut?). The scored quiz assigns numerical values to each answer (What’s your allergy severity score?). The personality quiz assigns a personality type to each answer (What’s Your Gut Health Type?).

Step 3: Name Your Quiz

The topic of your quiz should relate directly to a product or service that you sell. If you offer a weight loss program, your quiz could be something like “What’s Your Weight Loss Readiness Score?” If you specialize in autoimmune disease, your quiz could be “What’s Your Autoimmune Type?”

Step 4: Define Your Results

If you are doing a personality quiz, you will need to define your results before drafting your questions. If your quiz is about a weight-loss type, for example, you will want to name your types and write a brief explanation of what that means.

Step 5: Write the Questions

You want to have enough questions to collect a suitable amount of data but not too many to overwhelm your audience. If you are doing a personality type quiz, you want to be sure there are not an even amount of questions to risk there being a tied result. If you have 3 result types, an ideal number of questions will be 7.

Step 6: Enter Your Data Into the Quiz Maker

This part is relatively straight-forward. Once you know your questions and results, you enter them into the quiz-making software.

Step 7: Connect with Email

The beauty of online quizzes is that it gives you an opportunity to collect an email address and follow-up in the inbox. Quiz makers integrate with your email service provider. You will want to draft an email that will send out the results and invite the person to take the next step with your practice.

Step 8: Test it Out

When you create a quiz for the first time, there are a lot of moving parts. Be sure to test out the process several times. Enter the answers you know should give you each result to be sure all of the parts are working correctly. Make sure you like the look of the results page and that the follow-up email sends correctly. Ask family members or friends to test it for you before going live.
